Best Sweet Sixteen Ever - Decorating Advice, Theme Ideas, And More

Hey Everyone!
I had a Sweet Sixteen Party about six months ago, last August. (I know- I'm kinda late to the party, hahahahah. . . ) It couldn't have gone smoother and I couldn't have had more fun! I believe to make a party truly "successful" it's all about the ambiance, and that doesn't necessarily mean a million decorations or overboard themes, but it's all about the people. Luckily I had great people there! With that being said I, personally, am a stickler for everything looking perfect, being perfect, and everything having a point. And I believe (in my mind) that I am a honorary professional party planner after planning various parties this last year both by myself and with my sister Lily.
Anyway, this is how I planned my Sweet Sixteen-

How to plan a party:

First, start with a theme - my was Cupcakes and Makeup,

Second, think up ideas going along with the theme, for example, everyone got a little mini bag with nail polish and a mini beauty product in a mason jar to go home with, and which they also drank out of while they were here:

and we had a big cupcake decorating part! Everyone made two or somewhere around there, so they all went home with one or two, depending on if they were even in the mood for them! Options, people, options all day er day!!!

Third, decorate according to the colors that fit the theme the best and go with the background, I decorated with these lanterns because I knew they would look really good with the yellow siding in the background -

and finished the decorations with rugs, moving the furniture, adding flowers and candles, putting places at the table, and a shirley temple filled jug.

Fourth, plan something to do at the end of the party, so everyone's not just standing around awkwardly, we planned a firepit with smores, because it was an outside party (can you see it behind Isabel?)

Fifth, have fun, that's exactly what we did!

I hope this helps you if you are planning a Sweet Sixteen or any party! When I was looking online for ideas I found absolutley nothing, so I had to actually use my brain and think up ideas. What joy!

Cheers,
Rose

P.S. Just a quick note and reminder after the thought - Remember to prepare! I powerwashed the outside of the house + the patio two days before, I staplegunned (why is it telling me that that's not a word?? :) the lanterns to the underside of the porch about an hour before, and I made all the cupcakes and frostings and shirley temples the day of. Which left me with, oh, about 4 minutes to do my makeup and no time to do my hair. At all. But I played it cool, cause I'm just that hipster. And gangsta. Yup, definetly gangsta. Peace, my people - thanks for reading this!!!

Cutest Makeup Products/Packaging Vol. 1

And the winners of the cutest packaging are. . . drum roll please. . . .
(from left to right)
Airspun Face Powder by Coty (translucent powder)
Watt's Up by Benefit (highlighter)
Primer Potion by Urban Decay (eyeshadow primer)

I think all these products are great! I love this highlighter (it's in the cute mini size in the picture). I use it for a inner eye highlight and on the tops of my checks and on my cupids bow. I think it is more cool toned, but it is very versatile. The primer potion is amazing it keeps eyeshadows on all day, even through a bit of water (I have to use makeup remover to get eyeshadow off when I use this). And lastly, the powder. I think it's a good powder, not great, but good. It does tend to cake, but if used minimally it works really well.
And that's all for now!
Cheers,
Rose

Mineral Makeup- Bare Minerals Dupe

Hi Everyone!
I have found that L'Oreal Mineral Foundation, This Foundation is a dupe for Bare Minerals without the $27 price tag. Instead, it's $11, and worth every penny. I tried using it as a setting powder, but I found that doesn't work as well as using it by itself. Remember to moisturize first, if you have dry skin like me, because it doesn't do so well with flaky skin- as powders usually don't. It has buildable light to medium coverage. This is my makeup routine featuring this product:
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Rose

My Makeup Setup

Hi Everyone!
So figured I'd start with something a bit interesting, so here is my small makeup setup. I have more in little boxes, but this is what is showing, and I think it looks pretty good. Shown here is:
Fit Me Foundation (which I love)
Fit Me Powder (which I hate)
Benefit's Sephora Kit (mascara and highlighter, amazing)
Real Techniques Brushes (the most inexpensive and, in my opinion, best, brushes)
Beauty Blender Dupe (I've never tried the beauty blender, but I got the yellow one off amazon and it works like a charm)

Talk to you all soon,
Cheers,
Rose
